1992 our chapter sponsored the NRHS 1992 National Convention in San Jose.
This week-long event resulted in three mainline steam locomotives coming
to San Jose and Milpitas to pull a series of excursions in and around the
Bay Area. The excursions were seen by thousands of people and received
extensive media coverage. It was no surprise when that year's convention
was deemed one of the most successful in the NRHS's history.
Our chapter again hosted the National Convention in 1999, this time in Sacramento, and in conjunction with the Railroad & Locomotive Historical Society (R&LHS).
