2252. James¹² Bate (James¹³ Bates, John¹⁴) was born in Lydd, Kent, England 19 December 1624. James died June 1692 in Huntington, Suffolk, NY, at 67 years of age.

He married Ann Withington 23 February 1644 in Hampstead, Long Island, NY. Ann was born 1625 in Prob London, Middlesex, England. Ann was the daughter of Henry Withington and Elizabeth Smith. Ann died 1700 in Huntington, Suffolk, NY, at 75 years of age.

James Bate and Ann Withington had the following children:

2253 i. John¹¹ Bates was born in Haddam, Middlesex, CT about 1625.

2254 ii. Samuel Bates was born in Haddam, Middlesex, CT 18 June 1648. Samuel died 28 December 1699 in Saybrook, Middlesex, CT, at 51 years of age. He married twice. He married an unknown person. He married Mary Chapman 2 May 1676 in Middlesex, Connecticut.

2255 iii. John Bates was born in Dorchester, Long Island, NY 1649. John died in Haddam, Middlesex, CT. He married twice. He married Hannah Lord. He married Elizabeth Beckwith about 1677 in Haddam, CT.

2256 iv. Elizabeth Bates was born in East Haddam, Middlesex, CT 1650. She married twice. She married Thomas Lawrence. She married Thomas Spencer 1673.

2257 v. Alice Bates was born in Of Huntington, Suffolk, NY 1659.

2258 vi. Mary Bates was born in Of Huntington, Suffolk, NY 1659.

2259 vii. James Bates was born in Dorchester, Suffolk, MA 15 February 1662. James died 13 May 1732 in E. Haddam, Middlesex, CT, at 70 years of age. He married Mary Lord 1721 in Saybrook, Middlessex, Ct.

2260 viii. Samuel Bates was born about 1662. Samuel died about 1699.

2261 ix. Margaret Bates was born in East Haddam, Middlesex, CT 19 June 1664. Margaret died 30 October 1736 in East Haddam, Middlesex, CT, at 72 years of age. She married three times. She married an unknown person. She married an unknown person 1684. She married Thomas Spencer 1684.

+ 1408 x. Mary Bates was born 11 March 1666.

2262 xi. Hannah Bates was born in Haddam, Middlesex, CT 1668. She married Nathaniel Chapman.

2263 xii. Edward Bates was born about 1670.
