1049. Joseph¹⁰ Hodge was born about 1741. Joseph died 26 August 1831 in Jaffrey, Cheshire, NH, at 90 years of age.

He married Elizabeth Alexander 13 December 1757. Elizabeth was born 13 December 1757 in Marlborough, Middlesex, MA. Elizabeth was the daughter of Richard Alexander and Jerusha. Elizabeth died 13 November 1841 in Jaffrey, Cheshire, NH, at 83 years of age. had explored to Jaffrey Wilderness as a hunter, probably while living in Peterborough, and on one occasion had an exciting adventure with a Catamount, details of which are now lost. He built his first rude cabin close by the shore of the pond which still bears the family name. He was the first constable of Jaffrey in 1774, and signed his official papers with the ancient family name (Hogg).

Joseph Hodge and Elizabeth Alexander had the following children:

+ 643 i. Polly⁹ Hodge was born about 1778.

1050 ii. Betsey Hodge was born about 1784. She married Oliver Wilder 1804. Oliver was born 1777 in Jaffrey, Cheshire, NH. Oliver was the son of Ezra Wilder and Betty Welch.
