11. William⁴ McGlauflin (James³ MacLachlan, James², John¹) was born in Acworth, Sullivan, NH June 1790. William died 24 February 1871 in Charlotte, Washington, ME, at approximately 80 years of age.

He married Mehitable "Kitty" Smith 16 November 1816 in Charlotte, Washington, ME. Mehitable was born 1 February 1800 in Charlotte, Washington, ME. She was the daughter of Hosea Smith Sr. and Abigail Hersey. Mehitable died 1 June 1887 in Charlotte, Washington, ME, at 87 years of age. William built his house on the Meddybemps road in Charlotte about 1815. He served as selectman, fence viewer, town clerk, treasurer, assessor, surveyor and school committeeman. According to tradition, most of their children went west, namely Minnesota, in the early 1850's. Benjamin was the only son who remained home to care for his parents, but all of his children left town.

William McGlauflin and Mehitable "Kitty" Smith had the following children:

• 18 i. William S.⁵ McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 5 June 1817. He married Susan S. Morgan 15 September 1845 in Charlotte, Washington, ME. Susan was born about 1825 in Charlotte, Washington, ME.

• 19 ii. Kitty McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 26 October 1818.

• 20 iii. James McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 6 September 1820. James appears in the 1880 census in Anoka, MI with his wife Sarah M. (b. 1824 in New Brunswick).

• + 21 iv. Mary Mehitable McGlauflin was born 20 July 1822.

• 22 v. Samuel T. McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 5 April 1824. Samuel was living in Platte, Clinton Co., MO in 1900 with his brother, Thomas. (Census)

• 23 vi. Abigail S. McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 27 May 1826. Abigail died 2 May 1855 in Charlotte, Washington, ME, at 28 years of age.

• 24 vii. Albion R. McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 19 March 1828.

• + 25 viii. John S. McGlauflin was born 11 November 1830.

• + 26 ix. Benjamin Franklin McGlauflin was born 14 June 1832.

• 27 x. Sarah B. McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 16 March 1834.

• + 28 xi. Thomas J. McGlauflin was born 26 June 1836.

• 29 xii. Rachel W. McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 31 July 1840.

• 30 xiii. Almira S. McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 1 January 1843. Almira died 25 January 1848 in Charlotte, Washington, ME, at 5 years of age.

• 31 xiv. Hannah Eliza McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 31 March 1846. Hannah died 3 September 1861 in Charlotte, Washington, ME, at 15 years of age.
