37. Albert J.⁵ McGlauflin (John⁴, James³ MacLachlan, James², John¹) was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 31 December 1819.

Albert was a Civil War veteran. He lost his wife and three children in the diptheria epidemic of 1873 and had to bury them in the night with his own hands. He was a blacksmith and Baptist minister who later performed his oldest son's wedding ceremony.

• 70 i. Horace⁶ McGlauflin was born about 1870. Horace married his first cousin and step-sister, the daughter of Albert's second wife, who was the widow of Albert's brother, Josiah, who had been killed in the Civil War.
