43. James⁵ McGlauflin (John⁴, James³ MacLachlan, James², John¹) was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 13 March 1829.

He married Martha A. . Martha was born 1833/1834 in ME. Martha died in 1873. James and his brother Josiah were among the first settlers of Mapleton, ME. They built the first house there. James became the first postmaster in addition to being a merchant, selectman, teacher, minister, and member of the School Board and Board of Health. They had 10 children.

James McGlauflin and Martha A. had the following children: (incomplete)

• 84 ii. Roberta McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 1853/1854.

• 85 iii. Lovina McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 1856/1857.

• 86 iv. Lovilla McGlauflin was born in Charlotte, Washington, ME 1858/1859.

• 87 v. Fred McGlauflin was born about 1863.

• 88 vi. Clifford E. McGlauflin was born about 1865.

• 89 i. Flora⁶ McGlauflin.
