2. Richard2 Opynscha (1 Opynscha of the Schae) was born About 1410. Richard died After 1460.
He married an unknown person. ....or opynschay, called also Decon and Rye. It is related of him that "John Radclyff, lord of Radclyff, gaffe lycens unto on old Ryc Openscha, y was heyr of the Schae to take a encrochementt on Cokkey mor and ther to set hys hywes, and the afforsayd Ryc Opynscha occupytt hytt by the space of XXt zer."
It appears that at this time great quantities of bees were kept on Cocket Moor, and the Rector of Middleton had tithe of them, as also of all lambs, foals, calves, & etc., born on the Moor. Cockey Moor is in yje Parish of Radcliffe, co. Lancaster.
Richard Opynscha had the following children:

John3 Opynscha was born in Radcliffe, Lancaster, England 1428. John
died About 1480. Opynschay or Openshawe, "heyr unto the afforesaid Ryc, occupyett the afforsayd encrochementt XVt zer, and
deptyd with owte yssewe." He seems to have lived on the borders of the moor, and had to pay a fine when his beasts trespassed on the moor.
It is related of him that "John Opynschay, that was the sune (son) of Decon Opynschay, desyred George Kirkma apon a tyme to goe to the lord
of Medulton to get hym lycens for to take in half an acre of cokkeymore for to socure hys howse from the nests of the Moore that wold rub
downe the woys"

James Opynscha was born in Radcliffe, Lancaster, England 1441. James died After 1509. or Openshawe,
"dwellyng in Ainsworth, brother of the afforesaid John occupyett the encrochementt on cokkeymore beyng not heyr by ye space of iii or iiii
zer."
In 1509 he occupied an intake of land on Cockey Moor, perhaps the above mentioned "encrochementt". Ainsworth is in the parish of Middletown, and co. of Lancaster, and adjoins Radcliffe.
