Jonathan¹⁶ Openshaw (Thomas¹⁵, Richard¹⁴, Thomas¹³, John¹², James¹¹ Openshey, James¹⁰, John⁹ Opensha, James⁸ Openshowe, James⁷, Lamwell⁶ Openshall, Thomas⁵ Openshawe, John⁴ Opynscha, ...³, Richard², ¹ Opynscha of the Schae) was born 25 November 1804. Jonathan died 17 June 1881 at 76 years of age.

He married Eliza Holt 21 June 1827. Eliza was born 2 September 1805. Eliza was the daughter of Joseph Holt. Eliza died 22 February 1850 at 44 years of age. Jonathan was of Bank House, Bury.

Jonathan Openshaw and Eliza Holt had the following children:

+ 154 i. Thomas Lomax¹⁷ Openshaw was born 12 April 1828.

155 ii. Joseph Holt Openshaw was born 11 March 1830. Joseph died 25 March 1831 at 1 year of age.

156 iii. Sarah Ann Openshaw was born 1 March 1832. She married William Openshaw 19 April 1854. William was of Park Crescent, Southport. and Brongain Cottage, Llanfechain, co. Montgomery.

William was born 30 October 1827. William died 7 December 1888 at 61 years of age.

157 iv. Eliza Openshaw was born 26 April 1834. Eliza died 26 November 1888 at 54 years of age. She married Thomas Aitken 12 January 1859. Thomas was born 15 August 1832.

158 v. Albert Openshaw was born 2 March 1843. Albert died 29 August 1844 at 1 year of age.
