He married Frances Clark 4 July 1863. Frances was the daughter of Joseph Frearson Clark. Frances was of Pendleton, co. Lancaster. William was of South Shore, co. Lancaster.

William Arthur Horatio Openshaw and Frances Clark had the following children:

child 170 i. Annie Beatrice17 Openshaw was born 6 March 1864. Annie died 11 March 1888 at 24 years of age.

child 171 ii. Percy Openshaw was born 18 July 1865.

child 172 iii. Ernest Openshaw was born 15 April 1867.

child 173 iv. Kate Edith Openshaw was born 7 August 1868.

child 174 v. Edith Minnie Openshaw was born 11 January 1870.

child 175 vi. Clifford Openshaw was born 10 May 1871.

child 176 vii. Lillian Openshaw was born 26 April 1875.

child 177 viii. Eva Wolstenholme Openshaw was born 27 April 1879.

child 178 ix. Leonard Clarke Openshaw was born 3 May 1881. Leonard died 11 May 1884 at 3 years of age.

child 179 x. Francis Noel Openshaw was born 8 October 1885.
