George¹⁷ Openshaw (Joshua¹⁶, John¹⁵, John¹⁴, Thomas¹³, John¹², James¹¹ Openshey, James¹⁰, John⁹ Opensha, James⁸ Openshowe, James⁷, Lamwell⁶ Openshall, Thomas⁵ Openshawe, John⁴ Opynscha, ...³, Richard², ¹ Opynscha of the Schae) was born 14 November 1857. George died 28 March 1891 at 33 years of age.

He married Hannah Maria Newbold 21 April 1880. Hannah was born 26 April 1854. Hannah was the daughter of Francis Newbold. George was of Heywood Street, Bury.

George Openshaw and Hannah Maria Newbold had the following children:

206 i. George Frederic Victor¹⁸ Openshaw was born 2 December 1881.

207 ii. Katharine Openshaw was born 1 April 1883.

208 iii. Oswald Bertram Openshaw was born 11 November 1886.

209 iv. Gerald Newbold Openshaw was born 10 August 1888.
