172. Herbert Augustus¹² Wood (Coral Ellen¹¹ Wilder, Harriet Maria¹⁰ Pierce, John B.⁹, Joel⁸, Josiah⁷, Isaac⁶, Joseph⁵, Daniel⁴, Anthony³, John² Pers, Richard¹ Pierce) was born in Brattleboro, Windham, VT 17 August 1880. Herbert died 18 May 1943 in Brattleboro, Windham, VT, at 62 years of age.

He married Ella Cornelia Newcomb 24 October 1904 in Brattleboro, Windham, VT. Ella was born 6 May 1878 in Hinsdale, Cheshire, NH. Ella was the daughter of Samuel Rogers Newcomb and Cristine Connellia Hildreth. Ella died 5 September 1938 in Brattleboro, Windham, VT, at 60 years of age.

Herbert Augustus Wood and Ella Cornelia Newcomb had the following children:
