2. William2 Atte_Wode (Peter1) reference FLJS-XG was born in Hooley House, Colsdon, Surrey, England about 1250. William died 1345 in England, at approximately 95 years of age.

He married Juliana . Juliana was born about 1274 in Sanderstead, Cour., Surrey, England. William Atte Wode, who in the year 1278 was in Coulsdon Parish as a yeoman and landowner. In 1318 they bought the estate known as Beckenham Kent, near Coulsdon. He became Sir William Attwood and was a Captain of the King's Guard. He had two sons, Geoffrey and Peter, who were both Sergeants at Arms to the King. William and his two sons accompanied the King, Edward II, to the French War, in which the French were defeated. Geoffrey lost his life in battle. Immense treasures were taken from the French to England, thereby enriching many of the common soldiers. In this way, Peter Atte Wood obtaining a great deal of wealth, which enabled him, on his return to England, to buy much acreage.
